HIGH SCHOOL FALL LEAGUE RECAPS

Game 1 - Bowie Bulldawgs vs. Cibolo Steele

The Dawgs took the floor vs. Steele in their first pre-season action with new head coach and former St. Edward's assistant, Trey Lindsey. After years of success under Celeste Collier who always seemed to have multiple college level players on the roster, Coach Lindsey has his work ahead of him in year one.

The always physical and athletic Steele team also looks very different from recent years. Coach Lonnie Hubbard, going into his 11th season as head Coach is poised to show that even without the star power of old that they are stll a force to be reckoned with.

From the tip, it was apparent early that Bowie was going to be a win by committee team with a very balanced attack offensively. They shared the ball quite well and handled the intense pressure of that Steele defense. 6'4 Senior Drue Donus led Bowie with 10 points as the Dawgs bit Steele 41-35.

Game 2 - Buda Johnson Jags vs. San Marcos Rattlers (Game of the Week)

This game did not disappoint as two of the best in Central Texas went head to head. The Jagz came out strong early against the favorite San Marcos, led by their 1st team All District & All Region wing man, 6'5 Quinton Hairston who finished with 16pts during the contest. Doing what they do best, the Jagz nailed 16 3-pointers on the night but that was still not enough to hold off the Rattlers and their onslaught of talent. D1-Prospect Malik Presley stole the show with a highlight dunk, showing why he's in a class of his own. The Jagz had no answer for him as he scored at will and in a multitude of ways, finishing with 33 points and 11 rebounds. His counterpart and Texas State commit Kaden Gumbs contributed with 15pts. Lookout for San Marcos this year as they added another D1 prosopect to the team Jayvon Cofer and a hidden gym in 6'4 Mateus Perkins who's going to open up some eyes with his level of play.
